Blue Velcro Stained and VAn Gogh Glass, China
01/14
In 2006, I took a weeklong mosaic workshop with Sherri Warner Hunter at Arrowmount School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN. We banged lathe into rock shapes, cut tile for our 3D forms, assembled our totems and I was hooked!! So in between raising 3 children and managing a massage practice, I found time to create mosaics. I travelled to workshops and then. about 5 years ago, decided to hold them in my home town, Asheville, NC. I kicked off my 1st year with Carol Shelkin and Kelley Knickerbocker . Both have returned and were joined by others - Dianne Sonnenberg, Laura Rendlen, Margo Anton, Martin Cheek, Gila Rayberg, Donna Van Hooser, Yulia Hanansen, Debra Mager. Every year I look for new artists with their particular specialty for all levels so you can keep on learning!!
A BIG THANKS to all who have helped create this mosaic community and I love meeting new friends from all over the country . I love to teach; I'm yearly at the John C Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC usually doing my signature PotHead Class. I am very fond of FUNctional Art and continue to grow as an artist.
In 2021, I was the 1st artist to have a mosaic installation at the NC Arboretum and received a grant from the Haywood County Arts Council to mosaic my concrete chair.
I accept commissions and love to help people repurpose their cherished cracked china into new works of art. You can find my work at K2 Fine Home Furnishing in downtown Asheville.
